Consultants Choice
This is the page where you can contribute ... As
Consultants, we often find ourselves searching though our travel guides, looking for
somewhere to unwind, grab something to eat, maybe catch a bit of local colour.
This is just for fun, the following suggestions are all places
that we have enjoyed.
Send us your recommendations ... clip
art, or a GIF would be handy too ... plus your name and we will include it on our page.
When in Paris, we invariably head for the Marais district
... Take the Metro to St Paul or Bastille (Ff8) and head for Place des Vosges. Plenty to
see and hear ... and follow yo ur nose to find yourself surrounded by delis,
bakeries, takeaways selling pitta bread stuffed with falafel, kebab, You can even get
kosher pizza.
Street food is
available from €5. There are dozens of tiny (and busy) restaurants serving
mostly Near Eastern menus from €10. |
Exercise
Tip: ... Our very expensive city centre hotel wanted to charge
€40 per
session to use their Gym facilities ... It costs
€5. to climb
up to the second stage of the Eiffel Tower. You get an aerobic workout, plus
fantastic views for a fraction of the price ...
We can also recommend the flan and hot chocolate
from the snack bar on the second stage ...
Not for the faint hearted, especially on the way
down.
You can always take the lift to the top |

Venice is a favourite ... If you are working
outside, the best way to arrive is by train ... the trip through the Laguna from Mestre
really sets the scene. Car Parking is available at the new large multi-storey at Mestre
... but it is not cheap. The best coffee
in Venice is at the railway station bar ... practice makes them
perfect, they must make thousands every day ... (it's probably the cheapest
too) €1
The freshly baked wafer-thin Pizza makes a great snack on your return.
We usually turn left outside Ferrovia (train station) and follow
the narrow streets and countless bridges towards S Marco. If we are eating Al Fresco, we
will pick up some supplies from the many bakeries and delis or markets on route. (real
people live in Venice) |
We tend to
avoid the tourist areas if we are to eat in a restaurant ... you can usually save a
fortune by walking 500 yards. We tend to
eat at one of the many restaurants that line the Grand Canal. Turn left at
the the Ducal Palace, cross over the bridge (take a peek at the Bridge of
Sighs ... and pick a restaurant ... we have eaten at most of them ... chose
a menu that suits you ... enjoy a cold beer or glass of wine. and watch the
world go by. Remember the 500 yard rule ... the further you walk, the
cheaper the menu ... (nothing to do with the quality of the meal) ...
€10 - €20 inc
a drink
The Vaporetti (Waterbuses) Line One will take you back along the
Grand Canal to the Rialto and Ferrovia.
The view from the top of the Campanile is every bit as splendid
as that from the Eiffel Tower. |

ATLANTA GA We were very
fortunate. The first night we got to Atlanta we taken to El Toro ... Mexican Restaurant
... Peachtree Ind Blvd. The food was fantastic, so was the atmosphere. Very wide mix of
people eating there. |
Service was very quick.
Tip: ... Take a cab there and back ... we went with a local ... we would
never have found it otherwise.
Good menu ... from about $10.00 |

Do you like beer and meat
... we went to MUNICH to visit the BMW
plant, we also had time to visit some of the local centres of brewing excellence.
Our favourites were the Hofbrauhaus in the City Centre ... Oompha
bands, big communal tables, bar maids carrying an impossible number of
steins of beer. long strips of explosive radish and doughy, salty pretzels.
Restaurant upstairs ...
€20-50 |
We also found Weisses Brauhaus in Marienplatz
... great beer, very traditional Bavarian food ... meat, dumplings, sausage,
cabbage ... €20-40
Don't go if you are the shy retiring type ... fantastic atmosphere ...
not the place for a quiet drink |
